OK, so I need a couple days off from blogging. G & I are running at least 4 days a week and I have so many last minute projects that have to be done before the end of the school year. But I'm not leaving you high and dry, nope not me! I have some interesting things for you to think about this week.
June 1st is National Go Barefoot Day (I just wish I could play hooky tomorrow & go barefoot ALL day long)!
June 2nd is Oscar the Grouch's Birthday
June 3rd is Repeat Day
June 3rd is Repeat Day (oh wait it's only May 31st sorry got ahead of myself)
June 4th is Cheese Day (Yummy I will celebrate that one)
June 5th is National Attitude Day (Hope my kids don't celebrate that one)
June 6th is National Family Day (I celebrate that one every day)
June 7th is National Chocolate Ice Cream Day (Not for me I don't eat chocolate)
So, hope you find some time to celebrate something fun this week. I will try to pop in a couple times but if I get swamped, don't worry I will post more special celebrations soon!

May 31st
It's the last day of May and I am wondering where the time went. It seems like just yesterday when I was starting this crazy idea of A Page A Day In The Month Of May. Now I am posting my last two pages in May. These two pages go into a beach album I am currently working on (one of my many "in progress" projects). One one page there is a picture of me with my cousin when I was about 6 years old. The other page is my daughter and my cousin's daughter at about the same ages, on the same beach! I still have to work on the picture of the girls, my printer is not the greatest. So I have just used photo corners to put the picture in place. That way I can change it out later when I improve the quality of the picture.

May 28th
So, I just had a moment of sadness when I realized that May is almost over. I have been working so hard on my Page A Day idea & it has been so fun (yes, I will do it again next year). It has forced me to be creative every day & being creative makes me happy. It has also been a great way to be sure I scrap every day. I see myself as the keeper of the family memories (or the recorder I guess) and the idea of "keeping up" with scrapbooking doesn't exist in my world. So this month has been a great way to get some good memories down on paper.
Because I am feeling this bit of sadness that my month is almost over, I am posting two pages that I created today. Both of them include my beautiful girl. Hope you enjoy them.
I'm still working on an idea for June (don't know if it will rhyme or not but it will be fun & creative)!

More Memorial Day pictures. I didn't get to that mini album I hinted about a couple days ago but I'm still working on that idea. Working on some others too, like what to do in June? Any ideas from you guys? I'm thinking something with quotes, but I'm not sure yet. Guess I better decide, June is just around the corner!
So I am so frustrated with posting pictures that turn out sideways! If you have followed this me this month you have noticed a few of my layouts turning up sideways :( Seriously, does anyone know how to fix this problem?

There really is a lot going on these days. Not only am I doing A Page A Day but the kids are winding up an incredible school year & my job is coming to an end. I kind of wish I could have come up with a catchy title like "A Page A Day In The Month Of May" for June (it would be easier to keep up with everything, and do a page a day if I wasn't working). Any ideas for what my next "adventure" should be? What should I do with my summer? I don't know what I wanna be when I grow up!

Spent a busy weekend going back and forth between home & my parent's house. They were having a "Non-Camping, Campout" at their place. The boys slept outside in tents & my girl slept inside (she is sooooo my girl :) We didn't sleep over because we had a TON of yard work to get done. G wants to get it all ready for summer early so we can start doing fun things together instead of spending every weekend of the summer in the yard. Smart! But we did go over to hang out with them for yummy BBQ. Anyway, we are all back home today & spending tomorrow together doing, who cares what! Got some great pictures from the weekend already printed out & ready for a mini-album (tomorrow's project?). But for today you get to see a great picture of Spencer at the beach back in 2007. A stocking hat? At the beach? In June? Only Spencer can pull that one off!

Spencer was one of the two students out of his class who were picked to read a story at Author's Tea this spring. This is not the first time he was honored in this way. He also got to read a story in first grade. The piece he wrote this year was an informative piece all about big cats. We are so lucky & proud to have two great kids who are awesome students. And I was lucky to be able to sneak out of work for a couple minutes to video tape his performance and snap a few pictures.

Last year for Mother's Day I told my family I was going hiking, whether they wanted to come with me or not. We hiked Multnomah Falls. This year the week before Mother's Day I started talking about hiking on Mother's Day again. Spencer said he would go but I had to pick a different place to go, he is tired of Multnomah Falls. So I found Horsetail Falls online. It's just down the road from Multnomah Falls & a little bit longer hike. So we piled in the truck on Mother's Day morning and took the old highway to the trail head of Horsetail Falls. Now, G is a total point A to point B kind of guy. So he wasn't too thrilled when he found out we could have stayed on 84 and made the trip much quicker. Me? I was glad we took the scenic route (I'm more of a scenic route kind of girl). The weather was great & we had so much fun! Wonder where we will go next year?

This is a very special page for me. The picture was taken on Christmas Day. G had shoveled the walk in preperation for my parents arrival. My parents have spent Christmas breakfast with us every years since we have been back in Oregon, 11 years. It is truely one of my favorite times at Christmas. My parents called that morning and told me that they couldn't get out of their road because of the snow & ice. I was so sad & yes I did shed a couple tears. It just seemed to me that is wasn't Christmas morning without my parents there to share it with.
We ended up getting together the day after Christmas at my parent's house and had pizza & exchanged gifts. But to me it just didn't seem right. My Dad gave me a poem that night after Christmas, and yes I cried! I don't know if you can read the words or not but it basically told me that it didn't matter what day we celebrated Christmas (there was more to it than that but that was the jist)! My parents are great & they do so much for us. That poem was just what I needed! Thanks Dad!

Spencer is trying out Lacrosse this year. It is a tough game and he's so little. Makes me a bit nervous, but he is fast so maybe he can out run bigger kids with long sticks running after him for the ball.
I absolutely love this picture of Lexi. I took it last summer at Blue Lake Park when we had a family reunion for my parent's 40th anniversary.
So at the beginning of the month I warned you that I was going to make every attempt to post my Page A Day everyday but yesterday was one of those oops days. I was busy, busy, busy! So I am posting two pages today to make up for my monster crazy day yesterday. I did get the page done yesterday but by the time I put the finishing touches on it, I was in a time crunch. I went out with my friend Summer last night to celebrate her birthday.

Sideways again, BUT WHY? Oh someone please help me out. What am I doing wrong?
There is a funny story behind our old mattress that I just have to pass on to you! Almost 13 years ago when Lexi was born we lived in Alabama. A few weeks after she was born my in-laws came down to meet their first grandchild. Being the poor, military kids we were, we had one queen bed, a twin & a crib. When they came down, G & I decided to let them sleep in our room. We squeezed together on the twin while they stayed. Our queen mattress was one of those mattresses that if more than one person slept on the bed, both of you rolled to the middle. We didn't really care, we were young & that's what we had.
The second day my in-laws were visiting G & his Dad went out golfing and came home with a new mattress & box spring in the back of the truck! Guess that would have been one way to keep our visitor's stay short, but these were first time grandparents and they were staying with us, even if it meant they had to go buy us a new mattress to sleep on! Thanks Mom & Dad for the mattress but now it's time for a new one!

Dang, yes it's sideways! Oh to be a computer guru!
This picture is one of my favorites! Lexi was taking a golf clinic put on by Nike, Spencer was not old enough but since I didn't have a babysitter, he had to go along. One of the guys who works for Nike asked if Spencer could hit a few balls. Why not? But, he's left handed. They didn't have any lefty clubs small enough for him, so the guy had Spencer turn the right handed club upside down and go for it! He smacked that ball really far & the guys was totally impressed! What a blast. Guess we need to get him some lefty clubs!

Just Wanted To Let You All Know
I know I already posted my layout for today but I have some information I want to get out to my fellow scrapbookers. Memory Makers Magazine has some great digi kits available right now. www.memorymakersnagazine.com/digitalkits Check it out if you are a digi girl, or even if you haven't dabbled in the wide world of digital scrapbooking, these kits are very cute, and free to download! So maybe it's time to give it a try. I am totally a paper girl but sometimes it's fun to play around with digi stuff.

Here is the first page on my crazy journey of A Page A Day In The Month Of May! I created this page with a picture my Aunt took of my Mom on her birthday a few months ago. I converted this picture to black and white to make it more subtle.
